Banks or post offices provide traveler's checks and foreign exchange services. Hotels provide foreign exchange service generally only for guests. Most suburban bank branches have a foreign currency exchange section,
however only offer major currencies such as US Dollars, Sterling, and Euros. Your passport is needed when you exchange traveler's checks into Japanese yen.
