Back home and lose your keys, wallet, passport, mobile, or umbrella, and they would be gone forever. But in Japan these items and thousands usually find their way to a lost and found center.

šDescribe It

When inquiring about lost property be prepared to describe:
- the item - size (ōkisa), colour (iro), contents (nakami)
- the details of the train (bus) - departure time, boarding station (stop), final destination
- the details of where you left it - train carriage number, near front / middle / train, location (on seat / shelf / floor/)

If you have difficulty in speaking Japanese, you can use the NICfs 3-way phone system to speak to the lost property office though an interpreter.
