Subway
Nagoya's subway system comprises of the Higashiyama, Meijo, Tsurumai, and Sakuradori subway lines. Each line is identified by a specific color - yellow, purple, blue and red - on signs and at stations. The Tsurumai Line shares a track with the Meitetsu Line, and
you can travel to Inuyama or Toyota without transferring. (A subway route map is provided on page )
City Bus
City buses are a blue-and-white two-tone color. Board a city bus from the front door and disembark from the rear. You must pay the bus fare when you board the bus. If you pay in cash, change will be provided, but it is preferable to prepare the exact fare
in advance. There are two fare slots: one is used for the exact fare, the other is for making change. The fare box is located at the entrance, next to the driver. After you hear the announcement that your stop is next, notify the driver by pushing the button
nearest to you to sound the bell.
Key Route Buses No. 1 and 2 are colored in red and white. For these buses, you board at the rear door and disembark from the front. You pay the fare as you disembark.

Yurika Card
The Yurika card allows you to ride both city buses and subways. In the Yurika row of the above table, the figures on the left show the price of the card, while the figures in parentheses show the amount of money on the card. You can put the Yurika directly into
the automated wicket. If you get on the subway (or a city bus) within 90 minutes of getting off a city bus, you will receive a discount. The Yurika can be used in both ticket vending machines and fare adjustment machines.
In addition to the fares in the table above, the children's Yurika and the discount daytime Yurika (Monday to Friday 10:00-16:00 Sat. Sun. National holiday all days long) can be used for both the bus and subway.
Commuter Passes
If you use the subway or bus for your daily commute to and from school or work, a commuter pass is both convenient and economical. Commuter passes are available for one, three, or six months. You can buy a pass at most major subway stations. The pass is valid only
between the two stations you specify and you cannot use the pass in any other zone.
If you want to change a pass you have purchased, you must cancel it. You will receive a refund, less a handling charge.

Meitetsu Bus
A Meitetsu sign is displayed on the sides of these buses. You board the bus from the rear door, disembark from the front, and pay the fare as you get off. The fare varies with the distance traveled. As you board the bus, take a fare slip from the dispenser. Before
you get off, confirm the fare by comparing the number printed on your fare slip with the fare table at the front of the bus, and put the fare in the fare box. If you do not have the exact change, you should make change in the bus beforehand. Just before arriving
at your stop, let the driver know that you will be getting off by pushing the button to sound the bell. The fare for the Meitetsu Bus is 200yen to go to any stop within Nagoya served by the Nagoya City Bus service.
