Reducing Nagoya’s Waste: Miscellaneous Paper
減らそう! なごやのごみ 雑がみ編

Miscellaneous paper (雑がみ / zatsu-gami) refers to paper (other than newspapers, magazines, cardboard, paper cartons and paper containers and packaging) that can be recycled. Miscellaneous paper can be recycled with magazines and used to make cardboard and other materials; but in the City of Nagoya alone around 30,000 tons per year of this paper is disposed of as waste.

※ In some areas it may not be possible to put out these items when newspapers, etc. are collected. Please observe the rules for disposal for your area.

※ For information on community recyclables collection days and times, please inquire at the environmental affairs office of the ward in which you reside, or Waste Reduction Promotion Office.

For help with recyclables and waste, check out the San’a-ru app for iOS and Android, which currently supports Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Filipino and Vietnamese.
