滝山寺鬼まつり
This is a popular festival and attracts large crowds each year. The fire festival (from 19:45) sees three “ogres” chased around the main temple by dozens of torch-bearing men.
- When: Saturday, February 11 (from 13:00, the main ogre ceremony starts at around 19:00)
- Where: Takisanji Temple 滝山寺, Okazaki City
- Access: From Meitetsu Higashi Okazaki (東岡崎) bus stop 4 at the north exit at 16:30*,16:35, 17:05, 17:35, 17:40*, 18:00*, 18:05.
* direct to Takisanji - A special park & ride shuttle bus service (190 Yen) will also be available (17:00 – 19:30) from the Okazaki Municipal Athletic Ground 県営岡崎総合運動場. A return shuttle bus will be available (19:00 – 20:15). There will also temporary bus services in operation during peak periods before & after the festival.
