The Center’s ever-popular adult Japanese program offers 7 types of classes ranging from conversation for beginners to Kanji. There is also a children's Japanse class!

NIC’s Free Personal Income Tax Consultations 外国人のための無料税務相談

Reservations are welcome from all foreign nationals who need advice or assistance in filing a personal tax return. Consultations are ideal for those foreign nationals:
• ... who did not complete a nenmastsu chosei (年末調整)
• ... who received income from more than one source and did not complete a nenmatsu-chosei.
• ... who ended employment during 2009, but did not restart employment again.
• ... who did not apply for their dependants.
• ... whose 2009 household medical expenses totaled more than 100,000 Yen.
• ... who purchased real-estate in 2009.

 

Available Sessions

When: February 20, 21, 27, 28, March 6, 7, 13, 14 (13:00 to 17:00) - all Saturdays & Sundays
Where: Nagoya International Center 3F
Languages: Available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, & French (Sundays only).
Reservations:  Can be made at the Information Counter - 052-581-0100; numbers are limited.

Required Items to bring on the day:

■Copy of Alien Registration Card (ARC) and passport
■Tax withholding statement (源泉徴収票 = gensenchoshuhyo) or equivalent - obtained from your place(s) of work; usually available in January.
■Copy of Bank book (front cover & inside front cover)
■Inkan (for those who have one)
■Records and receipts of any health expenses (if more than 100,000 Yen)
■Bank transfer records, birth certificate or marriage certificate for those people who sent money to overseas dependants (if applicable)
■Records and receipts of any National Health Insurance, Social Insurance, life insurance, earthquake insurance, or property insurance payments
■Records showing the balance and payment of any related real-estate loans (if any)
If the addresses on your withholding statement, ARC, or bank records are incorrect they should be updated by the relative administering body.

NIC Regional Seminar 2010 - Will the Region Change? - Building a Local Self-Government with Foreign Residents

The NIC will host a seminar on Saturday, March 13 (13:00 - 17:30). The seminar will look into how the region’s local communities can become more inclusive to all nationalities and take a look at the reality on the ground. Discussion will be held with the 6 panelists. Panelists include a Japanese chairperson of a resident’s association and an NPO representative who have both worked towards the realization of multicultural harmony in their communities, and foreign residents and an apartment complex caretaker of Japanese descent who have experienced hardships in order to fit in to their local communities. Participation is free but places are limited; seat reservations are required. English, Chinese, and Portuguese interpreters will be available. Reserve your place and join in the discussion!

Study in Canada Mini Fair

Canadian Education Alliance (A Non- Profit Organization, founded in Vancouver in 1996) will host a special Study in Canada Mini Fair at the Nagoya International Centre on Friday, March 5 (17:00 - 20:00). br />
Participation is free and anyone who is interested in studying in Canada is welcome!  Participants can win a free Study Trip to Canada and other prizes.

There will be new information on Scholarships, Internships, Working Holidays and Specialty Programs. Representatives of Canadian education institutions including University of British Columbia, Laurentian University, Georgian College, Commox Valley College, Van West College are available at the fair to answer ANY and ALL questions about options of studying in Canada in friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Small gifts from Canada are available for everyone and you might also win the study trip to Canada!

Children’s Story Book Time

Come and share in the fun at the Nagoya International Center 3F Library and listen to foreign volunteers as they read a selection of books from the library's vast children's story book section in their native language.
