¡Point: Denied Re-entry to Japan

¡Question: A woman, married to a Japanese national, holding permanent residence, and in possession of a re-entry permit, returned to Japan with her children after visiting the Philippines. Upon arrival at Chubu International Airport, she underwent an entry examination and was refused entry into Japan. Why was she denied entry?

¡Advice: With the implementation of the new immigration control system, finger prints and photos are now checked during the entry examination. Even permanent residence and a re-entry permit does not guarantee entry into Japan.

Since the start of the new system numerous people have been denied entry into Japan due to a positive match with a person on the immigration black-list.

This may have happened in this particular case as well.
