Utagawa Hiroshige(‰ÌìLd:1797~1858) made "One hundred scenery of Edo" in his latest years. It is contained 120 paints of old Edo secenery. European artists such as Gogh and Monet were greatly influenced by Hiroshige's Ukiyoe works.

 Hiroshige Utagawa ‰ÌìLd (1797-1858) is one of the famous Ukiyo-e (woodcut print) artists. "Fifty-Three Stages of the Tokaidoi“ŒŠC“¹ŒÜEŽOŽŸj" are his masterpieces.

 Hiroshige made a lot of works, but actually he didn't travel around Japan. Hiroshige got the idea from the picture books of scenery and historical places (–¼Š}‰ï). In this exhibition, you can see the viewpoint of Hiroshige and feel the artist's inspiration.

 In Edo era(19C), it was not easy to go on a trip for women. Please look at Hiroshige's Ukiyo-e and notice various women - some are traveling, and some are working.
