Today I will introduce my hometown to everyone. I am came from Sandouping, Yichang, Hubei, China. The place that the largest hydroelectric power station in the world------Three Gorges Dam(三峡ダム)

.

My home at the mountain in south side of the Three Gorges Dam. I can see the dam at the veranda .Walked from my home to the dam 20 minutes. I have gone to the inner of the dam once time.

The Three Gorges Dam is the worlds largest hydro-electric power station by total capacity, which will be 22,500 MW. It will have 34 generators. 32 will be main generators, each with a capacity of 700 MW, and the other 2 will be plant power generators, each with capacity of 50 MW. Among those 32 main generators, 14 of them are installed in the north side of the dam, 12 in the south side and the remaining 6 in the underground power plant in the mountain south of the dam.

The total duration of construction will last 17 years, divided into three stages. And now two stages have been finished. The third stage construction lasts 6 years from 2003 to this year. When the project is completed, it will provide China with tremendous power generation and flood control services. It will be the most important project functioning as a backbone in flood control system to protect the areas in the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River.

The dam body was finished in 2006.The dam body was divided into the left side, the spill way, and the right side, when facing down stream. The underground power plant under construction is to the south west of the dam. The dam wall is made of concrete and is about 2,309 meters long, and 101 meters high. The wall is 115 meters thick on the bottom and 40 meters thick on top. The project used 27,200,000 cubic meters of concrete, 463,000 tones of steel, enough to build 63 Eiffel Towers, and moved about 102,600,000 cubic meters of earth.

Now the Three Gorges region is one of the most famous tourist spot of china. It is The most dramatic section of Yangtze River, and it is historically and culturally an important region in China. Three Gorges Dam is constructed at the XiLingXia of the Three Gorges region. You can take a bus across the Three Gorges Bridge, which leads toward the top of the hill for a birds-eye view of the construction from the observation deck. At their you will observe the five-step ship lock, the diversion canal, the dam in construction, and the power station. These is three observation deck spot for a birds-eye view of dam. One of the spot is near my homeand now is on construction.

If you want visit to Three Gorges you can go to YiChang ShangXia airport by flight, then take the bus to Sandouping. Or you can by ship to Sandouping, I think that by ship from Yichang to Sandouping is the most dramatic tour. It is cost 7 hours. And best season to visit is from April to Augustbecause that from April to August the weather is blue and the mountain is green .

Welcome to Nagoya International Center ,Welcome to China, Welcome to Three Gorges .I will be the the best guide for you.
