Let's Make Nagoya's Dream of Honmaru Palace a Reality!

What is "Honmaru Palace" ?

Nagoya Castle Honmaru Palace was built about 300 years ago as a house for a feudal lord of the Owari clan, and at that time it was full of valuable artwork. The building was exquisite as like the Nijyo-jyo Palace in Kyoto ( which is now a designated as Japanese national treasure).

The original Honmaru Palace was burnt down by air attacks during World War U. But a lot of art products inside of Honmaru Palace like fusumas ( framed and papered sliding door), and Tenjo-Itaes ( paitings on the plates of ceiling), were evacuated from the Palace in advance. So even now, we can see these and they have been designated as Important Cultural Property.
Now a Honmaru Palace restoring project is taking place. .
