A free civic advisory service for foreign residents is available in person or by telephone at the Information Counter. A dedicated member of staff provides consultations on issues encountered by foreign residents in their day to day lives, in 11 languages.
In addition to queries about national health insurance, the national pension, resident tax, and the Japanese medical welfare, pension and taxation systems, many questions are received regarding marriage, divorce, bringing children and other family members to Japan, employment and worker's compensation, establishing a business, and labor issues.
*In addition to the Civic Advisory Service, consultations with a Gyoseishoshi (行政書士 / Certified Administrative Procedures Legal Specialist) on procedures related to immigration and status of residence, nationality, and starting a business, are available on Wednesday and Sunday from 13:00 to 17:00 by appointment.
