The main annual festival of Koromo Shrine in Toyota City, the Koromo Matsuri began in the mid-17th century, and the ceremony and pulling of the floats are an offering to the deity. The eight elaborate floats (made from materials including cypress, oak, rosewood and ebony, and decorated with embroidery and intricate carvings) are designated prefectural tangible folk cultural assets.
On Saturday, the floats are pulled throughout the streets amid a shower of fluttering confetti, and Sunday sees the floats assemble at Koromo Shrine.
