Special Exhibition: Welcome to the Arcade Museum!
(「特別展 ゲーセンミュージアム~この夏、博物館はゲームセンターになります。~」)

Geesen_200x283.jpgThere have been various kinds of 'game centers' (ゲームセンター / video game arcades) where kids could play arcade games, including places such as department store rooftops, kissaten (喫茶店 / coffee shops), and dagashiya (駄菓子屋 / candy stores). Many people will have played on an arcade game sometime, somewhere.
This exhibition presents looks at the appeal of arcade games through game arcades. Visitors can play almost all the exhibited games, from classics including Pinball, Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Street Fighter II, to the latest iteration of Gran Turismo. Whether you visit with family or friends, this promises to be a fun exhibition for all ages.

Admission: 1 Jun. to 16 Jul. - General admission 1,300 Yen; University & Senior HS students 700 Yen; Junior HS students & Elementary students 300 Yen; 17 Jul. to 29 Aug. - General admission 1,500 Yen; University & Senior HS students 900 Yen; Junior HS students & Elementary students 500 Yen; Bearers of a Certificate of Disability or Intractable Disease Patient Medical Subsidy Recipient Certificate and up to 2 accompanying persons may enter for half the at-door price upon presentation of certificate. ID required for University, Senior & Junior HS students.

Permanent Exhibition Special Exhibit: Literary artifacts from the Heian period - The miracle of the Osu Library
(常設展企画展示「平安の遺文 ~大須文庫の奇跡~」)

From Nagoya's Osu Bunko (the document archive of Osu Kannon Temple), enjoy this special display of three extremely Important Cultural Properties dating from the Heian period (794-1185), including the Shōmon-ki Zankan (将門記残巻 / Record of Taira no Masakado's Revolt).


When: Until Sun. 20 Jun.
Admission: General admission 300 Yen; Seniors (residents of Nagoya City aged 65 and over) 100 Yen; University & Senior HS students 200 Yen; Junior HS students & younger free.



Where: Nagoya City Museum (名古屋市博物館), Mizuho Ward (瑞穂区)
When: 9:30 - 17:00; Last entry 30 minutes before closing. Closed Mondays (or the following day if it falls on a national holiday) and the 4th Tuesday of the month (except national holidays)
Access: 150m south from Sakurayama Sta. (桜山駅, S11) Exit 4 on the Subway Sakura-dori Line (地下鉄桜通線)
