Toyota Automobile Museum Special Exhibition "What's JDM? - The Timeless Allure of Japan's Rad Era Cars."(トヨタ博物館 企画展「What's JDM?-世界が熱中する80'90'年代の日本車」)
2026.04.05
JDM originally stands for "Japan Domestic Market," but there is a special meaning for car lovers particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom. It is the culture of customizing Japanese export cars that are exclusive models for the Japanese market. This special exhibition shows approximately 10 Japanese cars from the 1980s and 1990s that have fascinated many fans, even today. The following three themes are explained: "State-of-the-Art Technologies of the Time," "Unique Designs," and "Compact with High Performance." To efficiently demonstrate the appeal of Japanese cars, this exhibition displays not only Toyota Automobile Museum's collection but also vehicles on loan from seven Japanese automakers and the Motorcar Museum of Japan. We appreciate their cooperation. Through this exhibition, visitors will realize the unique value of Japanese cars as well as recognize that Japanese car culture is something that Japan can proudly present to the world.
