From April 2023, Paper Containers and Packaging and Miscellaneous Recyclable Paper items can be collected together (4月から「紙製容器包装」と「雑がみ」の一括収集開始!)

2023.04.01

From April 2023, Nagoya City residents will be able to dispose of paper containers and packaging and miscellaneous recyclable paper (e.g. note paper, toilet paper cores) in the same bag for weekly collection by the City.

Paper Containers and Packaging

Paper containers or packaging used to contain or wrap goods, including sweet boxes and other empty boxes, disposable chopstick pouches, paper bags, alcohol and juice cartons (with an inner aluminum foil coating), wrapping paper, etc.
*Look for the recyclable paper symbol. Be sure not to leave any of the contents, and rinse containers for ice cream, etc.

Miscellaneous Recyclable Paper

Paper items that can be recycled, including flyers, note paper, postcards, envelopes, toilet paper and plastic wrap cores, etc.
(Excludes newspaper, magazines, corrugated cardboard, paper beverage cartons.)

Disposal

Collected once a week.
Place paper containers and packaging and miscellaneous recyclable paper in the same bag, and take the items to your local recyclables collection station for collection.

*Heat-sensitive paper (e.g. receipts), photos, coated paper, crimped postcards, iron print paper, shredded paper, etc. can affect the recycling process, and should be disposed of as burnable garbage.
*Please do not place non-paper items (e.g. plastic, metallic items) in the same bag.

Paper containers and packaging and miscellaneous paper items can be recycled to produce corrugated cardboard, paper bags, and more. Do your part to make sure recyclable resources don't go to waste.
