2022.03.01
Children ages 5 to 11 can now receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The proportion of COVID-19 cases in children in Japan is increasing.
The City of Nagoya will send information about vaccinations to all eligible recipients per schedule. Read the guide and decide with your children whether or not they should receive a vaccine.
Overview
| Type of vaccine administered | Number of shots | Interval between 1st and 2nd shot | Ages eligible for vaccination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pfizer vaccine for children * | Two | Generally 3 weeks | 5 to 11 years old ** |
(*) The dosage per vaccination is 0.2 ml (dosage for those aged 12 and over is 0.3 ml), and the amount of the active ingredient is 1/3 of that of Pfizer's vaccine for those aged 12 over.
(* *) The type of COVID-19 vaccine for recipients between the ages of 5 and 11 will be decided based on the age they received their 1st shot. Children who received their 1st shot at 11 years old and turn 12 years old before their 2nd shot will have the Pfizer's vaccine for children administered for their 2nd shot.
Eligible Recipients
Children ages 5 to 11
We especially recommend children with underlying diseases, such as chronic respiratory diseases and congenital heart diseases, who are at high risk of severe illness to get vaccinated. Consult with your doctor before getting vaccinated.
