2021.11.01
The City of Nagoya's Senior Citizen's Pass (Keirō Pass / 敬老パス), which allows residents of Nagoya aged 65 and older (foreign nationals included) free travel on Nagoya City Bus, Subway and other services, will be undergoing some changes from February 2022.
■Eligible Transport Services to Increase
Currently allowing holders free travel on Nagoya City Bus (including the Me-guru sightseeing route bus) services, the Nagoya City Subway, the Aonami Line and the Yutorito Line (guideway bus), Keirō Pass coverage is expanding to become even more convenient.
From 1 Feb. 2022, the Keirō Pass will also be able to be used on the following transport services:
- Railway services provided by Meitetsu, JR Tokai, and Kintetsu within Nagoya City
- Bus services provided by Meitetsu Bus and Mie Kotsu within Nagoya City
How to use the Keirō Pass on the newly-added transport services
① Charge the Keirō Pass before travelling
While the Keirō Pass can be used as is on Nagoya City Subway and Bus services, before using it on the newly-added transport services the Keirō Pass must be 'charged', i.e. cash must be used to install electronic money on the card, by the user.
② Use the charged Keirō Pass to travel
(Limited to stations within Nagoya City / bus stops [in principle] within Nagoya City)
■Railway services (Meitetsu / JR Tokai / Kintetsu)
Conditions
・Board and alight at stations within Nagoya City.
・Enter and exit stations via the automatic ticket gates (entry or exit through manned ticket gates may render the trip ineligible for coverage by the Keirō Pass).
*If the balance on the Keirō Pass is insufficient, you will not be able to exit through the automatic gates; find a charge machine within the station, charge the Keirō Pass, and then exit via the automatic gates.
■Bus services (Meitetsu Bus / Mie Kotsu)
Conditions
・Board and alight at eligible bus stops (in principle within Nagoya City).
*Service between (1) Moronoki (Nagoya City) and Fujita Ika Daigaku Byoin (Toyoake City) and (2) Inabajicho (Nagoya City) and Oharu Nishijo (Oharu Town) are operated by both Meitetsu Bus and Nagoya City Bus, and are also covered by the Keirō Pass.
*When boarding and alighting, touch the Keirō Pass on the card reader. (At the rear door when boarding, front door when alighting.)
・The full fare must be paid with the charged Keirō Pass.
*If a portion of the fare is paid with cash, the portion paid in cash will not be reimbursed.
③ Reimbursement of equivalent amount to fares
Fares will be reimbursed to the user by transfer to the user's designated bank account.
*Fares will be reimbursed collectively every two months.
*The user will be sent advance confirmation by post of the account, payment date, and amount to be reimbursed. Be sure to check when you receive it.
*The bank account indicated on the Bank Account Registration Form will be used for the transfer of fares to be reimbursed.
■Introduction of Usage Limit
Each user will be able to take a maximum of 730 trips during the period of validity of their Keirō Pass.
What happens if you use the Keirō Pass more than 730 times?
The user will not be able to use the Keirō Pass to travel from around two weeks after the date on which they exceed the limit, until the date of expiration of the Keirō Pass.
During the suspension period (from the date the user can no longer use the Keirō Pass to travel until the date of expiration of the Pass), the user will not be able to travel for free on Nagoya City Buses (and the Me-guru sightseeing route bus), Nagoya City Subway, the Aonami Line, and the Yutorito Line (guideway bus). In addition, equivalent amount to fares incurred for travel on Meitetsu, JR Tokai, Kintetsu, Meitetsu Bus and Mie Kotsu services will not be reimbursed.
*The Keirō Pass cannot be renewed during the suspension period.
The Keirō Pass can be renewed and used once again from the day following the end of the suspension period (i.e. the Keirō Pass expiration date).
