Q:
I live in Nagoya City. How do I find a hospital if my child has a sudden fever or gets injured?

A:

<In case of emergency, call 119 (foreign languages available)>

First, in case of serious injury or sudden illness (emergency), call an ambulance (119).

In Nagoya, 119 emergency calls are available in 22 languages.

Check out the Nagoya City website below to understand the situations for which you should call an ambulance.

(Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean)

• WEB: https://www.city.nagoya.jp/bousai/shoubou/1012724/1013205/1034492/1013365.html

★If you are unsure whether to call an ambulance, call #7119 (Consultations available in foreign languages).

If you are unsure whether to call an ambulance, please call #7119 (Kyūkyū Anshin Center Nagoya) for advice (available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year).

Consultations are available in 21 languages, including English and Chinese.

(If you cannot get through by pressing #7119, please call 052-951-7119.)

< When you have a family doctor (Kakaritsuke-i)>

A "family doctor" is a doctor at the clinic you and your family regularly visit and the doctor knows a lot about the medications you are taking and the illnesses you have had in the past.

When your family doctor's clinic is open, please go there.

<When the clinic is closed or during the night>

If your family doctor's clinic is closed, or it is a holiday or in the evening, please go to a nearby hospital or clinic that provides nighttime and holiday medical care (Kyūjitsu • Yakan Shinnryō jo). To find the location of a nearby Kyūjitsu • Yakan Shinnryō jo, please check out "Aichi Emergency Medical Care Guide" (available in English, Portuguese, Chinese, and Korean). You can also search for hospitals that offer foreign language services.

• WEB: https://www.qq.pref.aichi.jp/

★If you want to consult about your child's illness or injury in detail, please call #8000 (with someone who understands Japanese).

#8000 is a telephone service for obtaining advice if your child (under 15 years old) suddenly becomes ill or suffers an injury during the 13-hour period (from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.), 365 days a year. You can consult about your child's illness in detail.

Please call #8000 with the help of someone who understands Japanese.

(If you cannot get through by pressing #8000, please call 052-962-9900.)

<When there is someone nearby who can speak Japanese>

If there is someone nearby who can speak Japanese, you can call the Emergency Medical Information Center (Kyūkyū Iryō Jōhō Center).

The Emergency Medical Information Center will tell you about nearby hospitals that you can visit at that time. After obtaining the name and phone number of hospitals, you need to call the hospital you want to visit yourself.
