Insects are the largest group of organisms, comprising about one million species--more than half of all known species on Earth. Most of them are tiny, measuring less than one centimeter in length, yet they are remarkably diverse and varied in every aspect, from their body structure to their behavior and abilities. Countless undiscovered insects still exist in the world, and even our everyday environments hold future new species and discoveries waiting to be found. This exhibition combines the unique perspectives of researchers from the National Museum of Nature and Science with their personally selected, niche insect specimens and the latest insect research. It explores the little-known, surprising diversity of bugs, ranging from popular insects such as rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles to spiders and centipedes.
*This exhibition refers to insects and other terrestrial arthropods as "bugs."
