Beginning in the 1880s, a new generation of Swedish artists traveled to France, where they embraced Realism and its faithful depiction of people and nature.

Upon returning home, they sought to create a distinctly Swedish artistic identity, portraying the country's landscapes, its people, and the quiet beauty of everyday life with warmth, intimacy, and poetic sensitivity.

Organized with the full cooperation of the Nationalmuseum, Swenden, this exhibition presents an outstanding selection of Swedish paintings from the late nineteenth to the early twentieth century. Through these remarkable works, visitors can experience the uniquely Nordic appreciation of nature and the rich cultural sensibility that continues to define Swedish art.
